How Promo Magpie makes money, in plain English.

Promo Magpie is free to use. We pay for it through affiliate marketing: when you buy something after clicking a link on this site, we may earn a commission.

How it works

Many of the links on this site to stores are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate network (for example Awin or CJ) records that you came from us. If you then buy something, the store pays us a small commission. Links to stores are marked with rel="sponsored" for search engines.

What it never changes

  • Your price. You pay exactly the same as if you had gone to the store directly.
  • Our rankings. Stores can't pay to rank higher, to appear as a "Top code", or to have a code marked as verified.
  • Which stores we list. We list useful codes from stores whether or not we earn commission from them.

Giving to charity

If you pick a charity, we donate 50% of the commission we receive on your purchases to that charity, once the store has confirmed the sale. Promo Magpie is a commercial business, not a charity, and the charities we support don't endorse any store, product or offer. Donations are made by us, so your purchase isn't a tax-deductible gift. We record which charity you chose against each click and send a reference to the affiliate network so the commission can be matched. How giving works.

Stores we don't donate on

We donate on 98% of the stores we list. A few are left out:

  • Stores whose terms don't allow it. Some big retailers, Amazon for example, don't let affiliates pass their commission on to charity, so we can't donate on orders there. Each of these stores' pages says so.
  • Adult, vape, gambling and alcohol stores. We don't donate commission from adult, vape, gambling or alcohol stores, and we never show a charity or club alongside them.

The codes and deals for these stores work the same way and still save you money.

Cookies set by affiliate networks

When you click through to a store, the affiliate network may set a cookie on its own website to track the sale. Promo Magpie doesn't set or read that cookie. See our cookie policy for details.

We follow the Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising and its rules on consumer reviews. If you think something on the site is misleading, please tell us.
