How we verify codesHow giving worksHow we make money
FRS Clipper runs the Victoria Clipper V, the only direct fast passenger ferry between downtown Seattle and Victoria, British Columbia. The company started in 1986 as Clipper Vacations, when the first Victoria Clipper catamaran began sailing from Pier 69 in Seattle to Victoria's Inner Harbour. German ferry operator FRS bought it in 2016, and it took the FRS Clipper name in 2020. Clippervacations.com now forwards to frs-clipper.com.
The ferry runs year-round, usually one round trip a day, with extra sailings on some spring and summer dates and a break for winter dry dock. Seats come in three classes: Economy on the lower deck, Vista on the upper deck, and Comfort, which adds leather seats, snacks, coffee and tea and a checked bag. Food, drinks and a duty-free shop are on board. Because you cross an international border, every traveler needs a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's license or NEXUS card.
Alongside ferry tickets, the site sells packages that bundle the round trip with a Victoria hotel, from simple overnights to stays with afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress, the Royal BC Museum, The Butchart Gardens or a floatplane flight home. There are also day trips, Seattle and Vancouver getaways, group charters, gift cards and Seattle whale watching tours. Package prices are per person, based on double occupancy, and exclude taxes and fees.
