About CapCut
CapCut is a video and photo editor made by ByteDance, the company that also owns TikTok. It first appeared in China in 2019 and took the CapCut name in English in 2020. You can use it as a desktop app for Windows and Mac, in a web browser, or on phones and tablets.
The editor is aimed at people making videos for social media. Alongside cutting and editing tools and ready-made templates, it has AI features for generating designs, images, video and voiceovers. ByteDance also makes the related Dreamina and Pippit AI tools and the Hypic photo editor.
There's a free plan with templates and basic editing tools. Paid Pro and Ultra plans unlock more, and come monthly or yearly, with Teams plans priced per seat. CapCut says prices on its site are for reference, and you see your final price, taxes and any offers once you sign in. Annual plans are paid in full up front and renew at the regular price unless you cancel.
