Godmothers is an independent bookstore and gathering space at 2280 Lillie Avenue in Summerland, California, on the coast near Santa Barbara. The name comes from the fairy godmother idea: the women who cheer others on. Alongside the shop it runs a busy events calendar, with author talks, book clubs such as The Enduring Classics Book Club, and Little G's sessions for children.
The online shop carries new releases, staff picks and a deep range of illustrated and coffee-table books, from Taschen and Assouline collector's editions to design, travel and cookery titles, plus puzzles, games and children's books. There are gifts and homeware from brands such as L'Objet, custom-painted bookmarks and keepsake journals, and the shop's own Godmothers Collection of tote bags, caps, sweatshirts and travel mugs. It also sells gift cards, a Blind Date with a Book and first-edition subscription boxes.
Prices run from around $12 for paperbacks to several thousand dollars for limited collector's editions. Prices are in US dollars. Locals can visit the store, open daily (9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm Sunday), and many events are listed on the site for booking.

Yes. When you buy from Godmothers through our links, Godmothers pays us a commission, and we give 50% of it to the charity or club you choose. We pay each cause its confirmed commission every quarter (Jan, Apr, Jul, Oct), once the store has confirmed the sale, usually 30 to 90 days after the order.
No. You pay Godmothers' normal price, less any discount. Our commission is paid by Godmothers or its affiliate network, not by you.
