House of Rare is a tequila brand built around barrel aging and limited releases, with links to the El Arenal valley in Jalisco, Mexico. As well as bottling its own tequila, it runs RAREcask, a programme that matures and stores barrels for private owners. Online orders are fulfilled by a licensed alcohol retailer in Florida, linked to SipTequila.
The core bottles are House Blanco ($69.99), made at the Herencia de Agaves estate from agave grown within 10 km of the distillery, and House Reposado ($89.99), rested for six months in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The RAREcask Genesis PX Extra Añejo ($229.99) is distilled at El Llano and finished at Herencia de Agaves. Limited collaborations with the Cascahuín distillery, finished in Calvados, port and PX casks, appear from time to time and sell out quickly.
It suits tequila collectors and anyone after something rarer than supermarket brands. You must be 21 or over to enter the site and buy, and it's up to you to check that your state allows delivery. Opened bottles can't be returned, and unopened returns must be requested within 24 hours of delivery, with a 20% restocking fee.
