Grocery and takeout delivery memberships all promise $0 delivery fees for around $10 a month, but what you actually save depends on the order minimums, the service fees you still pay, and whether you already get a membership free through Amazon Prime or a credit card.
We've compared Instacart+, DoorDash DashPass, Uber One, Walmart+ and Amazon's grocery delivery subscription, plus Grubhub+, using the companies' own help pages, membership pages and newsrooms, checked on October 27, 2026. Walmart.com wouldn't load for us, so Walmart+ figures come from Walmart's corporate newsroom, and we've said where we couldn't confirm a fee. Prices are before tax and tips.

Instacart+
Instacart+ costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year, with a 14-day free trial that renews to the $99 annual plan. It has the lowest grocery threshold here: $0 delivery on grocery orders of $10 or more, $35 at Costco and $25 on restaurant orders. Service fees still apply to members, vary by location and cart, and are shown at checkout. Pickup orders have no service fee.
Members get Peacock Premium (with ads) at no extra cost, and annual members get a year of New York Times Cooking. Instacart+ also gives $10 off a first restaurant order of $25 or more, and a $10 restaurant coupon when you spend $40 or more on a non-restaurant order. Without a membership, Instacart says delivery fees vary by store, time slot and order total, and every order must be at least $10.
DoorDash DashPass
DashPass costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year, and students pay $4.99 a month or $48 a year. In the US, the $0 delivery fee applies to restaurant and convenience orders of $12 or more and grocery orders of $25 or more, though DoorDash says minimums are set store by store and are $10 in some cities, including Los Angeles, Denver, Phoenix and Dallas. Members get "reduced" service fees rather than none.
Many Chase cardholders get DashPass free. Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred cardholders get it through December 31, 2029, and Freedom and Slate cardholders get six months free before it switches to $9.99 a month. Without DashPass, DoorDash charges a delivery fee that varies by store, a service fee, and a small-order fee below a set subtotal.
Uber One
Uber One costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year, with a four-week free trial for eligible new members. Members get $0 delivery fees and up to 10% off eligible orders over the store's minimum, plus 5% back in Uber One credits on rides and 10% credits on hotels and car rentals. For groceries, Uber's own guide, published in September 2026, says members pay no service fee only on orders of $60 or more. Non-members pay a delivery fee of typically up to $7.99 and a service fee of $2.85 to $7.75 on grocery orders.
Walmart+
Walmart+ costs $98 a year or $12.95 a month. Members get free delivery from their local store on orders of $35 or more, including groceries, free shipping with no minimum, fuel savings, and a choice of Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential (both with ads), which you can switch every 90 days. Since October 2026, Walmart+ and Sam's Club Plus together cost $120 a year. Walmart's website wouldn't load for us, so we couldn't confirm its current fee on orders under $35 or the price of express delivery.
Amazon grocery delivery
Prime members can add Amazon's grocery delivery subscription for $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year, or $4.99 a month for Prime Access and EBT customers, with a 30-day free trial. It gives unlimited delivery on orders over $25 from Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh and local grocers, one-hour delivery windows at no extra cost and free 30-minute pickup on orders of any size. You need Prime too, which costs $139 a year.
Without the subscription, Amazon's same-day delivery of fresh groceries is free for Prime members on orders over $25 in most areas, or $2.99 below that, and $12.99 for customers without Prime. Amazon says it's available in more than 2,300 cities and towns.
Grubhub+ with Prime
If you already pay for Prime, Grubhub+ costs nothing extra once you link your accounts, with no expiry date. It gives $0 delivery and lower service fees on restaurant orders of $12 or more, before tax, tip and fees, and 5% back on pickup orders as Grubhub+ credit.
Which to choose
- Instacart+ if you buy groceries from several stores, including Costco, and often place small orders. Its $10 grocery minimum is the lowest here.
- DashPass if you order takeout most, especially if you have a Chase Sapphire card, which includes it free.
- Uber One if you also use Uber rides, so the ride credits count too. Watch the $60 minimum for no service fee on grocery orders.
- Walmart+ if most of your grocery shopping is at Walmart and you'd use the streaming and free shipping.
- Amazon's grocery subscription if you're already a Prime member and shop at Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh.
- Grubhub+ if you have Prime and order takeout now and then: it's free, so link it first.
How to save on delivery
- Check what you already have. Prime includes Grubhub+, and Chase Sapphire cards include DashPass.
- Use a free trial at a busy time, such as Thanksgiving week, and set a reminder to cancel if you don't want to keep it.
- Compare the checkout total, not just the delivery fee. Service fees and item prices can differ between apps.
- Choose pickup when you can. Instacart charges no service fee on pickup, and Amazon's subscription includes free pickup.
- Pay annually only for the one you use most. Annual plans save up to $57.40 a year, at Walmart+, against paying monthly.
FAQs
Do I still need to tip with a membership?
Memberships cover delivery fees, not tips. Tips go to your driver or shopper and are separate from the membership.
Can I cancel any time?
Monthly plans can be canceled before your next billing date. Free trials renew to a paid plan automatically, so cancel before the trial ends if you don't want to keep it.
Are item prices the same as in store?
Not always. Delivery apps can show different prices from the store, so compare your total if price matters more than convenience.
