About Plan B Rentals
Plan B Rentals pitches itself as an Airbnb alternative run in reverse. Instead of scrolling through listings, travelers (it calls them Dreamers) post a trip once with the destination, dates, number of guests and budget, and hosts with matching places reply with private offers. It is run by ABC Consulting LLC, which trades as Plan B Rentals from Miami, Florida.
Requests aren't limited to vacation homes. You can post for villas, hotels, cruises, yacht charters, ski chalets, glamping, event stays and long-term rentals, and the site lists destinations worldwide, from Paris and Lisbon to Bangkok, Tokyo and San Diego. Hosts and property managers can answer trip requests without a public listing, which suits owners who want to fill empty dates alongside other platforms.
The money works differently from the big booking sites. Travelers pay a flat subscription ($1 a month, $9.99 a year or $24.99 lifetime) and hosts pay from $99 a month, but Plan B takes no commission on bookings. It also doesn't process rental payments: you agree the price and terms with the host and pay them directly. The site itself advises getting everything in writing and paying by a traceable method such as a credit card or escrow.
