How do we tell a genuine price drop from a fake one?

A genuine price drop means the product was sold at a higher price recently and is now cheaper. On a verified drop we show "Was $X until [date]": the store charged that price for at least 7 of the 28 days before the drop. Be wary of list price comparisons on their own, because a list price is not proof the item ever sold at that price; where all we have is a list price we label it as such and never cross it out. Check the previous price, the date, and the same product at other retailers before buying.

Prices and stock come from each store's product feed, updated daily, and can change at any time: check the price on the store's site before you buy. When you buy through our links the store may pay us a commission, at no cost to you. How we check prices · How we make money

Price drop questions

How can I tell if a price drop is a genuine discount?

Check the previous price and the date it applied, not just the list price. A real drop means the item sold for more recently. Promo Magpie shows "Was $X until [date]" on every verified price drop and checks prices daily from store feeds.

Where can I find current price drops on home appliances?

On our kitchen and appliance price drops page, which lists current markdowns from US retailers with the previous price, the saving and when it was last checked.

Are TV price drops worth waiting for?

Often, around Black Friday and when new models launch. Compare the current price with the verified "was" price and the date it applied before you buy. Our tech and electronics price drops includes TVs.
