NordVPN is a virtual private network service launched in 2012 by Tomas Okmanas and Eimantas Sabaliauskas. It belongs to Nord Security, which also makes the NordPass password manager and NordLayer for businesses, and which merged with Surfshark's owner in 2022.
A VPN encrypts your internet traffic and hides your IP address, which helps on public Wi-Fi and when you want more privacy online. NordVPN has apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and TV platforms. Its features include Meshnet for private connections between devices, a dark web monitor and threat protection. As of early 2026, it runs more than 8,000 servers.
NordVPN's website blocked our automated checks, so we couldn't confirm current US prices or plan terms. You can sign up on longer plans or pay month to month, and the help center offers live chat. The help center accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
