AfricanNetSponge does one thing: the long, stretchy nylon net sponge used for bathing across West Africa, sometimes called a sapor. If you've used a loofah or washcloth and wished it reached the middle of your back, this is the store's whole pitch. The range is small, three listings in a lot of colors, so it suits anyone who wants a cheap, quick-drying shower net, a matching pair for a couple, or a small gift.

The store is run by Shenzhen RongshengYang Technology Co., Ltd., with offices in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, but US orders ship from a warehouse in Los Angeles. Prices are shown in US dollars when you pick United States in the country menu.

What's worth a look

Each pack holds two sponges, and the main difference between listings is how the colors are paired.

The basic 2 PCS Authentic African Exfoliating Net Bath Sponge is $7.99 for a single-color pair, with 16 colors from navy blue and brown to coral red and cream white. The product page lists it as machine-washable nylon that stretches up to 45 inches, with a white string at each end for hanging it up to dry. If you'd rather have two different colors in the box, the mixed color pack is $9.99, and the satin bonnet set adds a double-layer sleep cap about 15 inches across for $11.99.

A few practical points from the product pages. The sponges are nylon, so they don't go soft or soggy like a natural loofah, and the open net drains and dries quickly between showers. You can put them in the washing machine. They're long enough to hold one end in each hand and scrub across your back, which is what most people buy them for. The texture is firmer than a washcloth, so if you have sensitive skin, try it gently before you use it every day. The store has a page of customer reviews, and some reviewers mention slow delivery as well as liking the sponge, so leave a week or so if you're buying for a particular date. With 16 single colors and ten mixed pairs, it's easy to give each person in a household their own.

Current offers

We don't have a code for AfricanNetSponge right now. The site is running a banner for an "Early Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sale", and the single-color two-pack shows $7.99 against a crossed-out $19.98. The mixed-color pack and bonnet set showed no reductions when we checked.

How to save more

  • Buy the plain two-pack if you don't mind both sponges being the same color: it's $2 less than the mixed pair for the same two sponges.
  • Shipping is worked out at checkout, so add everything you want in one order (for example a pair each for two people) rather than ordering twice.
  • Check the refund policy before you buy. It promises returns within 180 days, even on opened items, with a prepaid return label, plus free exchanges if you picked the wrong color.
