BENI is a rug company that owns its own weaving and washing workshops in Morocco and makes each rug to order from 100% wool sourced there. It's a long way from a flat-pack rug store: the designs come from collaborations with designers and brands such as Colin King, Tom Delavan and Flamingo Estate, rugs can be made in custom sizes and colors, and prices start in the hundreds of dollars. It suits people furnishing a room for the long haul, and interior designers, who get their own trade program.
Prices on the site are in US dollars. BENI has a showroom loft in New York City and a workshop in Marrakech.
What's worth a look
Most designs start at $930 for a 3' x 5' in the knotted Atlas construction, with bigger sizes costing more.

The Rothko is described as a bestseller, a take on Mark Rothko's "Blue and Grey" in navy and natural wool. At the top end, Crest from the new Chelsea Collection is hand-knotted in the Royale technique and starts at $2,400. If you'd rather not wait, the Ready to Ship collection lists rugs already in stock, such as the $1,120 Meridian Runner.
A few things set BENI apart from other rug sellers. Each design comes in several constructions: plush knotted Atlas, the flatwoven Zahara for busy rooms and warmer homes, the lightweight Safaa, the low-sheared Rif, and the dense Rabat, with 64 knots per square inch compared with Atlas's 15. Many styles also let you choose a colorway and whether you want tassels. BENI says it was the first vertically integrated rug company in Morocco and that its weaving is fair-trade certified. It also warns that other sellers copy its designs and photos, and lists Design Within Reach, The Expert and The Invisible Collection as the only other places selling authentic BENI rugs online. Outside the US, prices are quoted delivery duty paid, so import taxes are included at checkout.
Current offers
We don't have a BENI code right now, and the site showed no sale when we checked. Its FAQ points people asking about discounts to the trade program, which offers special pricing, free samples and account management to design professionals. The newsletter promises "friendly offers" too.
How to save more
- Order swatches before you buy. A single construction swatch is $12, the full set is $72, and collection pom bundles start at $15. All orders are final and BENI doesn't accept returns, so this small cost is your insurance.
- Measure carefully. Hand-woven rugs can vary by up to 5% in size, and you only have until 7pm ET the day after ordering to cancel.
- If you're an interior designer, decorator or architect, apply to the trade program instead of paying list price.
