ChicSew makes formal dresses for wedding parties: bridesmaid gowns, mother of the bride and groom outfits, flower girl dresses, prom and wedding guest styles. Every dress is made to order in more than 80 wedding colors, and custom sizing is free, which helps when a whole bridal party has to match. It suits couples dressing a group of bridesmaids, and families who want mother-of-the-bride outfits in the same color story.

Prices are in US dollars. Because the dresses are made to order, plan ahead: the shipping policy says standard delivery takes about 20 to 30 calendar days worldwide from confirmation, and rush orders take about 14 days, give or take five.

What's worth a look

A mix from across the range, from satin bridesmaid gowns to a mother-of-the-groom pantsuit.

Most of the satin bridesmaid styles sit between $122.99 and $131.99 at the moment. Astrid is one of the most dramatic, with a one-shoulder neckline, side slit and train. For a softer look, Blake is a V-neck chiffon dress at $105.99. The pantsuits and jumpsuits collection is worth a look if a mother of the bride or groom doesn't want a full gown.

The range goes well beyond bridesmaids. You can shop by color, with shades from burnt orange and champagne to emerald and rose gold, by fabric (soft satin, chiffon, velvet, sequin, jersey and more), or by silhouette, such as mermaid, A-line, one-shoulder or off-the-shoulder. There's also a ready-to-ship section for dresses that don't need to be made to order, plus plus-size and mismatched-style collections for bridal parties that want variety. How to save more

• Order swatches before the dresses. Swatches are free, and colors look different on screens. Checking the real fabric first is the easiest way to avoid a return on a made-to-order dress.
• Read the returns rules before you order for a group. After-sales requests must be made within 7 days of delivery, and returns cover standard-size dresses in the pictured color up to US 14. Custom and larger sizes are more restricted. ChicSew also asks customers not to order several dresses intending to send most back.
• Order early rather than paying for rush. If the wedding is more than six weeks away, standard delivery should be enough, and you won't pay the rush fee.
