VeePN is a VPN service provided by VeePN Corp. of Panama, with apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, and setups for smart TVs, Fire TV, Apple TV, routers and game consoles. Beyond the VPN itself, the paid plans bundle extra privacy tools, which is what sets the tiers apart. It suits anyone who wants to protect their connection on public Wi-Fi, keep their browsing private, or cover several devices in the household with one subscription.

The site also has free tools you can use without signing up, including a What Is My IP checker, a DNS leak test, a link checker and a file checker, which are handy for testing a connection before and after you switch the VPN on. There are dedicated server pages for the US, UK, Canada and Turkey, and a student discount page for students, 16 to 26-year-olds and apprentices.

What's worth a look

VeePN sells subscriptions rather than products, so here are its plans and the main tools that come with them.

The pricing page lists three tiers, each on 1-month, 12-month or 24-month terms: Basic covers 5 devices, Pro covers 10 and Max covers 20. All three include the VPN, Alternative ID, Antivirus, Breach Alert and a private AI chat. Alternative ID creates a temporary online persona and anonymous email address, so you don't have to hand your real details to every site. Breach Alert monitors for leaks of your personal information around the clock and notifies you if something turns up. NetGuard, the built-in ad and tracker blocker, rounds things off, and Anonymous Email gives you a separate address for each service you sign up to.

Current offers

• Up to 87% off VeePN plus 4 extra months. The 24-month plans include up to four extra months free, and the homepage shows the special offer working out at $1.99 a month.
• The plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and the 24-month plans are fully refundable within 30 days.

The discounted rate is billed upfront for the first 28 months. The monthly plan isn't discounted, so the long plan is where the saving is.

How to save more

• Pick the tier by device count. Basic covers 5 devices and includes the same tools as Pro and Max, so you only need to move up if your household has more than five gadgets to protect.
• Use the 30-day guarantee as a trial. Test the speeds and the streaming and gaming servers you care about in the first month, and cancel within 30 days if it isn't working for you.
• Compare terms on the pricing page. It lists the current offer for each tier on 1-month, 12-month and 24-month terms side by side, so you can see what the longer commitment actually saves.
• Check the renewal price. Introductory rates apply to the first term, so set a reminder before it renews and compare your options then.
